Once the implementation of the courses corresponding to the official degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centres and Degrees (RUCT) has begun, ANECA or the assessment bodies determined by the law of the Autonomous Communities must monitor compliance with the project contained in the curriculum verified by the Universities Council. This is established by article 27 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, which establishes the organisation of official university education.
The monitoring period of an official degree covers the academic year following the registration of the degree in the Register of Universities, Centres and Degrees (RUCT) until the time when the degree must undergo the procedure for the renewal of its accreditation.
This monitoring process focuses the evaluation on the effective delivery of the doctoral programme since its implementation, with a twofold purpose. On the one hand, to determine or check whether the doctoral programme is meeting the objectives, previously defined in the applicable version of the verified report, in relation to its delivery, the resources used and the expected results. On the other hand, to issue a reasoned assessment of the delivery of the doctoral programme so that the universities can use this assessment as another element for the improvement of the training they offer, thus promoting a philosophy of action that contemplates the continuous improvement of the results of the doctoral programme.
This evaluation will therefore conclude with a report identifying the effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of the programme, identifying, where appropriate, those improvements that the programme could implement with a view to the subsequent accreditation renewal process.
