Accessibility
ANECA, in line with its commitment to promoting the integration of people with disabilities, including those with physical or cognitive impairments, and regardless of the technological devices used to access information, has worked according to the Accessibility Guidelines defined by the Permanent Working Group Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), at its AA level.
The ANECA site has been developed using XHTML (eXtensible Hypertext Markup Language) and style sheets, complying, as much as possible, with the XHTML 1.0 and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) validations from W3C.
Among the main measures adopted to ensure accessibility are the following:
- Text size. The fonts used have relative dimensions, so that the user can control their size from the browser they are using.
- Design, navigation, and interactivity. Efforts have been made to achieve consistent navigation throughout the website, following the same structural schemes on all pages.
- Keyboard shortcuts. A series of keyboard shortcuts have been established for accessing the navigation menu options as well as the links found in the footer of the page. These shortcuts vary depending on the browser being used: With Internet Explorer 5 and above, you must press alt, the shortcut key, and then the enter key.
- With Mozilla and Netscape, you must press alt and the corresponding shortcut key.
- With Firefox for PC environment, you must press alt plus the shift key plus the shortcut key.
- With Opera for PC environment, you must press shift plus the escape key plus the shortcut key.
