Regulations and scope of action
The eleventh additional provision of Organic Law 4/2007, of 12 April, which amends Organic Law 6/2001,, of 21 December, on Universities, establishes that the Government, at the proposal of the ministries responsible for justice and universities, in application of the provisions of the Cooperation Agreements between the State and the Federation of Evangelical Religious Entities of Spain, approved by Law 24/1992 of 10 November 1992, will regulate the conditions for the recognition for legal purposes of academic qualifications relating to university-level teaching of a theological nature and the training of ministers of worship, taught in higher education centres.
ANECA has been commissioned by the Ministry of Education to evaluate the degree proposals presented by the Federation of Evangelical Religious Entities of Spain (FEDERE). This evaluation will be carried out within the commissions that evaluate bachelor's and master's degrees in the VERIFICA programme of ANECA.
Following ANECA's evaluation of FEREDE's degree proposals, the government has published Royal Decree 1633/2011 of 14 November, which establishes the system of equivalence of university-level degrees taught in educational centres dependent on the Federation of Evangelical Religious Entities of Spain and in which ANECA is entrusted with the monitoring and evaluation of degrees awarded by higher-level educational centres or Protestant Faculties of Theology dependent on the Federation of Evangelical Religious Entities of Spain which are recognised for legal purposes.
