Information note on RD regulating the state accreditation for access to university teaching bodies, approved by the Council of Ministers on 18 July 2023

In response to the enquiries received, ANECA's management informs about:

Entry into force and the transitional regime applicable to applications submitted before its entry into force and until 1 April 2024.

ACADEMIA Procedure

The Royal Decree will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official State Gazette (final provision 4.ª).

Applications for accreditation submitted before the entry into force of this Royal Decree and those submitted until 1 April 2024 will be resolved in accordance with the rules and procedures regulated in Royal Decree 1312/2007 of 5 October (transitional provision 1.1.1).

The procedure and the specification of the criteria published by ANECA resolution for obtaining state accreditation of university teaching bodies established in this Royal Decree shall be applicable as from 1 April 2024 (transitional provision 1.2).

The accreditation commissions and review commissions provided for in the Royal Decree of 18 July 2023 must be in place by 1 January 2024 (additional provision 1.1). 

Therefore, the current ACADEMIA programme (in accordance with RD 1312/2007) will continue to operate as at present until 1 April 2024. The composition of the commissions will be adapted to the new RD on 1 January 2024; from that date, the new commissions will resolve the applications submitted until 1 April 2024 in accordance with RD 1312/2007.
