Latest news on ANECA's CoARA commitments

Since joining CoARA (Coalition for the Advancement of Research Assessment) in April 2023, ANECA has incorporated the guidelines of this international movement into its assessment programmes and continues to advance the commitments made to promote a new culture of assessment of research activity.

Internally, ANECA is monitoring the implementation of its CoARA Action Plan, approved in July 2024. The development of monitoring tools and the collection of data on the lines of action contemplated in the plan will allow the preparation of the first monitoring report. The future evaluation and updating of the plan will be based on these bases.

 

At the national level, ANECA participates in various seminars and forums in which it presents and discusses with the scientific community the reforms carried out, aligned with the international spirit in the assessment of academic careers. In turn, ANECA coordinates, together with CSIC and CRUE, the National Chapter. The objective of this initiative is to support the process of reforming research evaluation in Spain around three main lines: 1) Evaluation criteria and methodologies; 2) Awareness and training; and 3) Multi and Interdisciplinarity. Taking as a reference a recent consultation sent to all the signatory national entities, working groups will be organized to facilitate the exchange of experiences and inter-institutional collaboration.

At the international level, ANECA has presented the candidacy of Irene Ramos-Vielba, advisory member of the board, to the elections for the partial renewal of the members of the Steering Board (SB) of CoARA. The SB is responsible for the general supervision, strategy, work plan and long-term sustainability of the coalition. Through a voting system of all the member entities of CoARA, candidates will be chosen to contribute to the mission of CoARA and participate in its initiatives, maintaining a balanced representation by groups of countries and by type of participating organization. The new composition of the SB will be announced at the General Assembly to be held on December 9.
