Update on the State Accreditation Program Monitoring Tool (ACADEMIA)

Last July, the Agency evaluated 379 accreditation applications submitted in accordance with the procedure set forth in Royal Decree 678/2023. This month, we have resolved the IT issues—which were caused by factors beyond ANECA’s control and which we have reported on in previous bulletins.

As a result, we expect to fully resume our normal evaluation pace in September (since August is a non-working month) and return to an average processing time of no more than 6 months. ANECA’s management and its accreditation committees are committed to taking all necessary measures to restore the processing pace that had already been achieved in previous months.

In addition, in July, as the aforementioned IT issues were resolved, the ACADEMIA program’s tracking tool was updated. This tool, launched in November 2025, allows users not only to view the status of evaluations in each committee but also to access cumulative data on applications received and evaluated by year, gender, category, and autonomous community; processing times; the average age of applicants; and cumulative success rates. More detailed information regarding the profiles of University Professors and Full Professors (average five-year periods, average six-year periods for research and technology transfer, etc.) will also be restored and updated shortly.

The result is a robust, efficient, and scalable analytical environment that provides a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the data managed in ACADEMIA, which will be of great help to both the individuals being evaluated and the evaluators, and which we will continue to improve with new features.
