The University of Extremadura's Mérida campus renews its institutional accreditation

In December 2025, the Council of Universities issued a resolution renewing the institutional accreditation of the Mérida University Campus. Institutional accreditation is based on the certification of the center's internal quality assurance system, focusing, among other aspects, on how the center reviews and improves its degrees. This process serves to reduce the pressure of evaluating each degree individually.
With this Center, the University of Extremadura has now achieved the renewal of institutional accreditation for seven of its centers.
- Faculty of Nursing and Occupational Therapy
- ETS. of Agricultural Engineering
- Faculty of Business, Finance, and Tourism
- Faculty of Sports Sciences
- Faculty of Teacher Training
- University Center of Plasencia
- University Center of Mérida
The institutional accreditation process goes through an initial phase of institutional accreditation and, within six years of that accreditation, a renewal phase. This accreditation renewal will be cyclical, every six years. In this procedure, ANECA may agree with the universities to carry out continuous monitoring of the institutional accreditation of institutionally accredited centers.
