Since the creation of the accreditation committees provided for in Royal Decree 678/2023, of July 18, regulating state accreditation for access to university teaching bodies, it has been noted that the number of applications submitted to Committee 6. Biomedical Sciences doubles the number of applications submitted to Committee 9. Health Specialties II. The time taken to resolve applications by the two commissions reflects this imbalance, which should be corrected by reassigning areas of knowledge to the aforementioned accreditation commissions.
The Director of ANECA has approved a resolution to assign three areas of knowledge to Commission 9. Health Specialties II, instead of Commission 6. Biomedical Sciences, three areas of knowledge: Microbiology, Parasitology, and Toxicology. As a result, experts in these areas of knowledge have moved from Commission 6 to Commission 9.
As a consequence of this change, it has been decided that applications submitted to Commission 6. Biomedical Sciences, which correspond to these three areas of knowledge and are pending resolution, will be immediately transferred to Commission 9. Health Specialties II, so that they can be evaluated with the participation of members who are specialists in the aforementioned disciplines.
This measure will benefit applicants with a faster resolution of their application, and the objective of correcting the imbalance in the resolution time will be achieved sooner.
The composition of the accreditation committees can be consulted at: BOE-A-2026-2135 Resolution of January 23, 2026, of the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation, amending that of November 14, 2023, which creates the accreditation committees that assess merits and competencies in the state accreditation procedure for access to university teaching bodies.
