The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities publishes a new Order creating the Homologation and Equivalence Commission

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has published an Order modifying and subscribing to several collegiate evaluation bodies attached to ANECA.

This Ministerial Order responds to the need to reflect a change in philosophy in the evaluation of the programs that are the responsibility of this Agency, to guarantee greater homogeneity of its activity, as well as objectivity, coherence, rigor and efficiency. These objectives are pursued by adapting the number of collaborating specialists in the different commissions and strengthening the role of external members.

One of the programs that is directly affected by this Ministerial Order is the Homologation and Equivalence of foreign University Degrees, since the new regulations establish the composition of a Homologation and Equivalence Commission. This commission is responsible for issuing reports on the academic or professional knowledge and skills of the different qualifications that are requested from ANECA in the homologation, equivalence and correspondence procedures, in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 889/2022. Likewise, this Commission may prepare reports for the development of general measures in order to improve and streamline the evaluation procedure.

This new commission will have a proportional representation of those professions with a higher volume of files, which may vary depending on the number and type of applications received, allowing the organization to adjust to the peaks in demand that may occur in relation to the increase in applications. This also seeks to be able to detect possible problems and contradictions that may arise in relation to the evaluation carried out by the experts and guarantee the consistency of the reports.
