The Agency joins the GAIN Global Network

In line with the Agency's strategic approaches and within the framework of actions in the field of internationalization, Aneca has just joined a new global network focused on joining efforts to combat academic fraud. This is the Global Academic Integrity Network (GAIN), currently constituted as a consortium with a total of 33 education quality and integrity agencies from all over the world, and to which ENQA has recently added its support.
This global action network to protect academic integrity was officially launched in October 2022 and was originally founded by the Irish agency Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) and the Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).
Among other definitions of its raison d'être, this network shares that offered by the Bologna Follow-up Group (BFUG) Working Group on Fundamental Values, which understands academic integrity as the duty of the academic community to comply with ethical and professional principles, standards, decision-making practices in learning, teaching, research, governance, outreach and any other task related to the various missions of higher education institutions.
In a highly connected and therefore interdependent world, it emerges as a global challenge to face the threat and risks posed by the development of an industry that makes available to the entire academic community a series of online services for the materialization of academic fraud. That is why this collaborative platform aims, fundamentally, to share information on these services and on the practices of academic dishonesty that are being executed, in order to develop joint approaches to help combat it, thus safeguarding the credibility of qualifications and, with it, society's confidence in the quality of our educational systems.
