In January 2026, the Council of Universities proceeded to renew the institutional accreditation of the UMU Faculty of Chemistry. Institutional Accreditation is based on the certification of the Center's Internal Quality Assurance System, focusing, among other aspects, on how the center reviews and improves its degrees. This process serves to reduce the pressure of evaluating each degree program individually.
With these centers, the University of Murcia has now achieved the renewal of institutional accreditation for four of its centers.
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
- Faculty of Computer Science
- Faculty of Biology
- Faculty of Chemistry
The institutional accreditation process goes through an initial phase of institutional accreditation and, before the end of the six-year period of said accreditation, a renewal phase. This accreditation renewal will be cyclical, taking place every six years. In this procedure, ANECA may agree with universities to carry out continuous monitoring of the institutional accreditation of institutionally accredited centers.
