ANECA signs the 'Declaration of Malaga 2022. Standards in Bachelor's Degree Medical Education: thinking the future'.

On 16 and 17 November 2022, the 81st Assembly of the National Conference of Deans of Spanish Faculties of Medicine (CNDFME) was held at the City Hall and the Rectorate of the University of Malaga, with the attendance of the heads of the Spanish centres where medicine is taught, as well as health, scientific and political authorities.

With a packed programme of sessions and presentations, the General Assembly brought to the table the most relevant aspects surrounding the development of medical studies and the medical profession, both in terms of training and access to employment, as well as the problems arising from the lack of generational replacement of the teaching staff, MIR places and the opening of new faculties. 

Within the framework of the Assembly, Pablo Lara, recently re-elected president of the National Conference of Deans of Spanish Medical Schools (CNDFME), and Jesús Millán, president of the Spanish Society of Medical Education (SEDEM), presented the 'Declaration of Malaga 2022. Standards in Undergraduate Medical Education: thinking the future', to which, in addition to ANECA, the following national and international institutions have adhered:

- National Conference of Deans of Spanish Faculties of Medicine.
(CNDFME)
- Spanish Society of Medical Education (SEDEM)
- State Council of Medical Students (CEEM)
- General Council of Official Medical Colleges (CGCOM)
- Federation of Spanish Medical Scientific Associations (FACME)
- Iberoamerican Forum of Medical Education (FIAEM)
- Royal National Academy of Medicine (RANM)
- Spanish Society for Specialised Health Education (SEFSE)
- World Federation for Medical Education (WFME)

In this context ANECA presented two papers:
- "Teaching and research staff in the draft of the Organic Law of the University System. Update of the accreditation criteria of the Health Sciences Branch in the ANECA Academy Programme", given by Clelia Martínez Maza, Director of Faculty Evaluation.
- Update of information on the International Quality Seal", given by Anabel Bonilla Calero, head of ANECA's International Quality Seal Programme.

At the end of the Assembly, the President of the Conference, Pablo Lara, thanked ANECA for its closeness to and support for medical studies and the medical profession.
