On December 13 and 14, the VII Plenary Meeting of members of the Ibero-American System for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (SIACES), an institution made up of national agencies that deal with quality assurance in higher education, to which ANECA belongs, was held.

After the official opening of the meeting by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), the CNA-Chile, the host entity, and the Presidency of SIACES, new members were welcomed, certificates of Validation of Good Practices were awarded and the usual matters of the Technical Secretariat's report were dealt with.

Likewise, the perspectives of the agencies on the reality of higher education evaluation in the region were exchanged and monographic sessions were held to discuss progress on new joint initiatives, such as the following:

  • The proposal on Inclusion and Gender Policies in SIACES Best Practices.
  • The comparative report on compliance with Best Practices. Projections and Challenges

  • And new training proposals for the SIACES Training School.

Finally, other projects external to SIACES were presented on topics of interest to its members. In this case on academic integrity (Global Academic Integrity Network, GAIN) and on tools for implementing supplements to university degrees.

Prior to the official opening of the Plenary, there was a discussion on 'Achievements and Challenges for Quality Assurance in Higher Education in Ibero-America' with the participation of five quality assurance agencies (CONEAU Argentina; SINAES Costa Rica; ANECA Spain; SEAES Mexico; and CNA Chile).
