ANECA issues 8,770 reports of Homologation and declaration of Equivalence of foreign university degrees in 2025, 55% more than the previous year

Between the months of October and December 2025, ANECA sent to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities 879 reports of Homologation and Declaration of equivalence of foreign university degrees: 762 of them correspond to reports of homologations and 117 to reports of equivalence of university degrees.

Furthermore, in addition to these 879 reports, ANECA reviewed, at the request of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, another 231 files of homologation of engineering degrees under general measures in order to identify the specialty associated to each one of them, which has allowed to speed up the process of issuance of the corresponding credential by the Ministry.

Adding up figures, ANECA closed the year 2025 with 8,770 reports issued, 55% more than in 2024.

During 2025, the effect of the general measures proposed by ANECA has resulted in a high number of other files which have not required a report and have been able, therefore, to be resolved without the need to go through ANECA's ordinary evaluation procedure.

Regarding 2026, ANECA has started the year with a minimum number of files pending a technical report, which is reduced to only 20 files within the deadline: specifically, 20 files of Homologation pending report and no file of Equivalence (1).

These figures, reached this year for the first time in the Agency's history, are the result of the intensive work carried out by ANECA's technical team and the application, by the Ministry, of the general measures proposed by the Agency.

Faithful to its firm commitment to streamline the procedure and provide regular and transparent data on the results achieved, ANECA will maintain its efforts in 2026 to continue obtaining satisfactory report issuance figures.
