489 applications for accreditation of civil servant teaching staff evaluated during January 2026

  • 04/02/2026

During January 2026, 489 applications for accreditation were evaluated, in accordance with the procedure regulated by RD 678/2023.

The number of applications assessed corresponds to the meeting schedules of the various accreditation committees, 11 of which did not meet during the month. This was due to the fact that, between December and January, all the committees were partially renewed and, in addition, there was a reallocation of areas and accreditation applications between Committees 6 and 9, in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned royal decree.

During January, the average resolution time continued to meet ANECA's objective of reducing waiting times, reaching 4.1 months on average. It should be noted that in June 2025, the average waiting time was 10.2 months. This data shows that ANECA is making decisive progress towards its goal of ensuring that no commission exceeds a 6-month waiting time, a period that is currently only exceeded by 4 commissions.

In January, the average positive evaluation rate for tenured teaching staff was 88%, while the average success rate for professorship accreditations increased to 70% for both women and men.

The publication of this data provides information on the effective work of the committees and also represents further progress towards more transparent communication of ANECA's activities.

The number of applications evaluated that are included are:

Positive and negative decisions (applications resolved).
Procedural agreements (requests for additional information, proposals for negative decisions and proposals for rejection due to non-compliance with the mobility requirement in PTU accreditations, or the research excellence requirement in CU accreditations requested by persons accredited to PTU/PPL).
