The director of ANECA has published two resolutions aimed at streamlining the processing of the Homologation and Equivalence Program for foreign university degrees, within the competence of this Agency to establish the general criteria applicable to the homologation files and to the equivalence files to the degree and academic level of said degrees.

The first resolution is justified by the need to apply homogeneous criteria to a series of foreign degrees based on the evaluated precedents, in order to avoid discrepant evaluations by ANECA specialists in relation to homologation requests for the same degree, university and country. The establishment of these general measures is especially relevant taking into account that it allows for a more agile resolution of files that, otherwise, would have to go through the evaluation process.

The second resolution, of a more specific nature, responds to the more than 1,000 technical reports associated with the procedure for equivalence of Bachelor's and Engineering degrees from Cuban universities, all of them with a favourable result for equivalence at the Degree level.
ANECA has confirmed that Cuban Bachelor's/Engineering degrees are comparable; both in terms of duration, time load, acquired skills and access to official postgraduate degrees, with Spanish degrees at the Degree level.
Taking into account also that Cuba has 50 public higher education institutions that offer programmes accredited by the National Accreditation Board, ANECA considers that there are sufficient guarantees to establish general measures to favourably report requests for equivalence of Bachelor's degrees from a significant number of Cuban universities.
