The awards were presented at a ceremony held at ANECA's main office

The director of the Teacher Evaluation Division of the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA), Susana Quicios, the director general of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), Imma Aguilar, and the president of  Union of Spanish University Publishers (UNE), María Isabel Cabrera, presented the certificates of the first call for the CEA-APQ Monographs Academic Publishing Quality Label on 21 March, which were awarded to thirty-five works by thirteen university and scientific publishers.

Quality recognition
These thirty-five monographs have demonstrated compliance with the nine indicators required by the CEA-APQ Label in terms of quality and information transparency (identification of the monograph, electronic availability and inclusion of metadata), quality of the editorial policy (availability of a scientific or editorial committee and editorial policy of the publishing entity) and quality of the editorial and scientific evaluation process (instructions for the submission of manuscripts, information on the manuscript selection process, external evaluation reports and reasoned communication of the decision to publish the work).

Consolidated Evaluation Criteria
The CEA-APQ Label has been recognised, since its creation in 2017, as an indication of the quality of publications in the evaluation of research activity, a recognition carried out by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI), and in the evaluation criteria for research merits claimed for the different types of teaching staff accreditation carried out by ANECA.

Extending quality
With the creation and first call for applications of the CEA-APQ Monographs Label, which came into being seven years after the Collections Label, we have responded to the demands of the publishers of universities and research centres grouped in UNE, who had been calling for a certification that would accredit the scientific quality of monographs that are published outside collections or that form part of collections that are not in a position to achieve the seal for collections and, in this way, the research activity of the authors of the monographs could be recognised.
