ANECA speeds up the equivalence of foreign degrees with positive precedents

In order to streamline the process of evaluation of applications in the Equivalency and Recognition Program and to shorten the formalities of a process that affects thousands of people, ANECA, true to its commitment to administrative simplification and transparency, is working on the revision of the procedures associated with this program.

ANECA's experience in this field is considerable: to date, it has issued more than 58,000 technical reports on as many foreign degrees (63% associated to the equivalence procedure and 37% to the homologation procedure).

Along these lines, by resolution of the Director and in accordance with Royal Decree 967/2014, a report of a mandatory and determining nature has been issued, which establishes that, henceforth, all those applications for equivalence of foreign degrees for which ANECA has precedents from the same country of origin, the same degree and the same university, and which have been positively evaluated, will in turn be positively evaluated, without the need to be examined by the Program's experts. It is expected that this will significantly speed up the evaluation for those degrees for which ANECA has already issued a report, which are a high percentage of those usually received.

On the other hand, together with the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, some administrative processes have been simplified, such as those related to the assignment of field and branch for those applications received during the validity of Royal Decree 967/2014 that may be eligible for general measures. It is expected that this will also produce improvements in the use of the resources of both institutions, something that in turn will result in greater agility in responding to requests.

Finally, other general measures along the same lines of streamlining and transparency are being studied and will enter into force soon.
