Renewal of Review Committees at ACADEMIA

In the news article published on April 30, we reported on the schedule of meetings for the ACADEMIA program’s review committees in 2026, following up on the information published in December and July 2025.

At this time, the five review committees established under Article 25 of Royal Decree 678/2023 have already completed their review of appeals against negative decisions on applications submitted through March 31, 2023 (subject to the procedure and criteria established by the repealed Royal Decree 1312/2007). In July, after receiving the necessary training, they will begin reviewing appeals against negative decisions by applying the new accreditation criteria for University Associate Professors and University Full Professors.

The review committees were recently renewed, by Resolution of the Director dated June 30, 2026, to address this new challenge of evaluating accreditation applications. ANECA wishes to thank the outgoing committee members for their efforts in completing the review of appeals subject to Royal Decree 1312/2007.

ANECA’s leadership, with the collaboration of the renewed committees, aims to accelerate the pace of reviewing the appeals submitted by the Council of Universities, in accordance with the aforementioned Article 25 of Royal Decree 678/2023, and to ensure the necessary quality of the evaluation.
