DOCENTIA evaluations conducted in the second quarter of 2026

ANECA, as part of its commitment to transparency, publishes the results of its DOCENTIA Program on a quarterly basis.

The objective of DOCENTIA is to ensure, through a mechanism for evaluating teaching activity, the training and competence of university faculty, with the aim of promoting quality and excellence in the academic system.

Designed to guide the actions of universities while respecting their autonomy, the program also strengthens the role of these institutions in evaluating teaching performance and in developing training plans for their own faculty.

As part of this process, universities periodically submit their evaluation models to ANECA (or the corresponding regional agencies) for review.

With regard to the last quarter, the Agency has analyzed the following cases:

International University of Valencia. Design verification. Second attempt.
In the Evaluation Panel’s report, ratified by the DOCENTIA Commission, it is concluded that the proposed model presents a coherent structure and is well-adapted to its teaching methodology; therefore, it has been decided to propose a “Favorable with conditions” rating.

This report, which is still provisional, has been submitted to the AVAP so that it may forward it to the university, which may then submit its comments if it deems it necessary.

Polytechnic University of Valencia. First certification follow-up.

In its report, validated by ANECA’s DOCENTIA Commission, the Evaluation Panel has determined that it is not necessary to incorporate further improvements, as the changes made to the model, its implementation, or the results meet the certification requirements. However, a series of recommendations have been included that could help improve the evaluation of faculty teaching performance. Three of these have been identified as requiring special follow-up.

University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Fourth follow-up to certification.

In this case, the Panel considers—and the Commission agrees—that the follow-up to the recommendations in previous reports has been, in general, satisfactory; therefore, it does not identify any improvements that must necessarily be implemented, although it does include a series of recommendations, some of which are a continuation of those included in the previous follow-up report, while others are new. 

This report, which is still provisional, has been submitted to ACCUEE so that it may forward it to the university, which may then submit its comments if it deems it necessary.

For the next period, the following cases are expected to be evaluated:

• University of Castilla-La Mancha. Second follow-up on implementation following verification.
• University of Oviedo. Third follow-up on implementation following verification.
