In March 2026, 708 accreditation applications were evaluated in accordance with the procedure established by Royal Decree 678/2023, reflecting an upward trend that has continued since the beginning of the year.
The number of applications evaluated corresponds to the meeting schedules of the various Accreditation Commissions, three of which did not meet during the month due to the partial renewal of all commissions carried out between last December and January.
During the month of March, the average resolution time once again met ANECA’s goal of reducing wait times, averaging 5.2 months. Compared to the same period last year, the average resolution time has decreased significantly for the various commissions of the ACADEMIA program (in March 2025, the average resolution time was around 11 months). Based on this data, it can be stated that ANECA is making decisive progress toward the goal of ensuring that no committee exceeds a 6-month waiting period.
In March, the average rate of positive evaluations for tenured faculty was 92%, while the average success rate for chair accreditations stood at around 59%.
The publication of this data provides insight into the commissions’ effective work and further advances more transparent communication regarding ANECA’s activities.
The number of evaluated applications included are:
- Positive and negative decisions (resolved applications).
- Procedural decisions (requests for additional information, proposals for negative resolutions, and proposals for non-admission due to non-compliance with the mobility requirement for PTU accreditations, or the research excellence requirement for CU accreditations requested by individuals accredited as PTU/PPL).
