With procedures underway for ANECA to become a recognised agency of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) to be eligible to evaluate the International Quality Label for official Medicine studies, the Agency has selected the four universities to participate in the pilot project of this new international accreditation.

The four universities are Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad de Málaga, and Universidad de Navarra.

The medical schools of the above institutions will be evaluated during the ANECA accreditation process by WFME in two phases: evaluation by the visiting panel and resolution by the accreditation committee. During the process of ANECA's authorisation by WFME, documentation will be created to be used by the chosen universities during the pilot project, which is expected to start at the end of 2021.

The assessment model for this new label will be based on the application of WFME  criteria, in addition to those general criteria already established in the accreditation process of the other labels managed by ANECA, which are periodically audited by the international associations ENQA , ENAEE , EQANIE  and ECTN  and internally through an annual meta-evaluation.

In the context of the development of this new international and professional project, ANECA will sign a collaboration agreement with the National Conference of Deans of Faculties of Medicine (CNDFME) and the General Council of Official Medical Colleges (CGCOM).
