From 28th to 31st May 2018, three international experts from ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education) made an external evaluation visit to ANECA.

During this visit, they interviewed all the agent representatives involved in the European seal of international quality in engineering EUR-ACE® that ANECA evaluates, in collaboration with the Spanish Engineering Institute (IIE), and attended the evaluation of 2 educational programs, which requested this year the evaluation of this seal, and a meeting with the Accreditation Commission EUR-ACE® ANECA-IIE, who are responsible for preparing the assessment reports for obtaining this seal.

After four years of evaluating engineering programs in Spanish and Latin American universities for the award of this seal recognised as an international prestige, ANECA together with IIE must go through an evaluation process to renew the authorisation that was granted by ENAEE in 2014. This evaluation process began last September with the submission of a self-assessment report to ENAEE in compliance with the established criteria for the authorised agencies to evaluate the EUR-ACE® Seal and the information that the ENAEE External Evaluation Committee will use, together with the information obtained during their visit to ANECA to write an assessment report.

The ENAEE external evaluation committee consists of:

  • Cyril Burkley. Chair of Accreditation Board of Engineers Ireland (EI).
  • Hans-Joachim Bargstaedt. Chair of the Accreditation Commission for Degree Programs of  the Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering Informatics/Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN).
  • Touko Apajalahti. Senior Advisor of the Engineering Program Accreditation of the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC).
