ANECA self-evaluation report

ANECA will receive the visit by the external evaluation committee appointed by ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education), on the 7th, 8th and 9th of June.

During the visit, said committee will conduct the five-yearly external evaluation required for quality assurance agencies, as per the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

The aim of this process is to ascertain compliance with the new criteria approved at the ministerial meeting in May 2015, allowing ANECA to remain a member of ENQA and registered agencies in the EQAR (European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education).
The committee is composed of:

  • Jon Haakstad, Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT), Norway – Chair.
  • Norma Ryan, Independent consultant, Former Director of Quality Promotion Unit, University College Cork (UCC), Ireland – Secretary.
  • Hildegard Vermeiren, Faculty of Arts, Department of Translation, Interpretation and Communication, Ghent University (UGent), Belgium–Academic.
  • Samin Sedghi Zadeh, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Turin, Italy – Student.

The self-evaluation process conducted on the Agency is viewed as a comprehensive, participative and self-critical evaluation instrument, applied in order to ascertain actual compliance with the new ESG.

The process has led to a reflection on our future challenges, and to analyse the progress made toward implementing the recommendations of the external evaluation panel. The most outstanding aspect of this joint effort is having given the staff and experts a deeper knowledge of the institution overall.
