The beginning of December marks the yearly publication in the Official State Gazette of the call for the evaluation of the research periods of the teachers who have the status of civil servants of the academic staff bodies or scientist-researcher civil servants of the CSIC.

This call abides by the specific evaluation criteria established in the Resolution of the 24th of November 2016 by the National Committee for the Evaluation of Research Activities (CNEAI) and published in the Official State Gazette of the 26th of November 2016 .

The 2016 call, as well as the specific evaluation criteria, is available for consultation at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports’ website

Evaluation applications can be sent between the 7th of December and 12am of the 17th of January 2017, by submitting the five contributions for each period published before the 31st of December 2016, subject to evaluation. The evaluation of the research periods will be carried out within the first semester of 2017, and the economic effects for those candidates who obtain positive evaluations will be the 1st of January 2017. The obtainment of a research period from the CNEAI implies the reception of the productivity bonus for the university academic staff, subject to the regulation of the Royal Decree 1086/1989 of the 28th of August regarding remuneration of the university academic staff, and also a reduction of their teaching load.

Regarding the processing of the agreements with the universities for the evaluation of the tenured PhD Lecturers, the prescriptive reports are currently being collected, together with the authorisation from the Ministry of Finance and Public Service in accordance with the provisions of article 50 of Law 40/2015, of the 1st of October, pertaining to the Legal Status of the Public Sector. Once the prescriptive reports and the authorisation from the Ministry of Finance and Public Service have been obtained, the corresponding agreements will be signed. Notwithstanding, universities with an agreement in force until the 31st of December 2016 may already submit applications of their tenured PhD Lecturers for the assessment of research periods.
