The National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation  (ANECA) of Spain was established by the Organic Law on Universities (2001) as the public body responsible for promoting and assuring the quality of higher education and the university system in an international context. To this end, ANECA develops its evaluation, accreditation and certification processes in accordance with internationally recognised protocols, complying with European Standards and Guidelines (ESG)   for quality assurance in the  European Higher Education Area (EHEA) .

ANECA is recognised in the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR) , and submits itself for regular ESG-compliant  external evaluation   where its excellence is demonstrated, and is an active member of the leading international networks   (ENQA , SIACES , INQAAHE ).

ANECA's scope of action includes both the quality assurance of Spanish higher education institutions and universities from an international perspective, as well as the deployment of international activities worldwide.

The promotion of ANECA's international dimension is the responsibility of its  Internationalisation Committee ( application/pdf 143.58 kB )  , within the framework of the  Agency's internationalisation strategy ( application/pdf 179.03 kB )
In order to achieve its strategic objectives in internationalisation, ANECA deploys an  annual work plan  ( application/pdf 266.88 kB )   which establishes the actions to be developed through all the Agency's Divisions and Units.
