The Engineering -to obtain EUR-ACE® accreditation seal

The EUR-ACE® label is a certificate awarded by an authorised agency to an HEI (higher education institution) in respect of each Engineering degree programme that has been assessed according to a series of set standards, in accordance with the principles of quality, relevance, transparency, recognition and mobility as provided for in the EHEA.

The EUR-ACE® label is internationally recognised and facilitates both academic and professional mobility in that it helps to pinpoint high quality Engineering degree programmes both in Europe and elsewhere and takes into consideration the points of view of the main stakeholders (students, HEIs, employers, professional organisations and accreditation agencies).

European Network for the Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE)   is the European body responsible for granting the authority to issue the EUR-ACE® label to QA agencies and accreditation agencies that deal with the accreditation and quality assurance of degree programmes in Engineering, as well as ensuring that they comply with established European framework standards and accreditation criteria and that the skills and competences defined in the EUR-ACE® label have been acquired by graduates of these programmes. There are authorised agencies in various European countries (Germany, Italy, France, UK, Russia and Ireland) and several hundred EUR-ACE® labels have already been awarded to degree programmes in Engineering in these countries. Up until now, however, there was no agency authorised by ENAEE to issue the quality label in Spain.

In the autumn of 2013, ACREDITA PLUS began to offer recognised First and Second Cycle degree programmes in Engineering the possibility of applying for assessment in connection with EUR-ACE® accreditation at the same time as assessment for programme accreditation and since 2015 in an independent procedure with the national accreditation.

In this regard, the Spanish Institute of Engineering (Instituto de la Ingeniería de España, IIE)  as one of the representative institutions of the engineering profession in Spain and also as a full member of ENAEE, together with ANECA, the main actor in programme accreditation in Spain, have identified the present time as ideal for a joint collaboration to promote quality and the international recognition of First and Second Cycle degree programmes in Engineering in Spain.
